July has been very nice so far in the thermal belt. . . Those who listen to the Republican con vention are having a real treat. Lots of entertainment, history, government, and general informa tion. The annual Landrum Community Sup per sponsored by the Civic League, will be held Friday night, (tomor row) at 7 o’clock at Brook wood Park .... Tryon Volunteer Fire men, and two trucks were called out Wednesday afternoon to the Tryon Builders Supply plant where a pile of shavings were on lire. Prompt action prevented the fire from doing further damage. Fire men called attention to the num ber of motorists who followed right behind the fire trucks in racing to the fire. This is against the law and is very dangerous. It also handicaps the firemen in their -Continued, on Back Page_ TRYON PRESBYTERIANS AT SUMMER CAMP Six members of the Tryon Pres byterian Church are attending Senior High Fellowship' Camp, of Kings Mountain Presbytery, at the Presbytery Camp above Saluda this week. About 150 young people from churches in this presby tery are in attendance. From the Tryon church, Harold Gallimore, Lillie Lindsey, Ann Harris, and Bobby Williams are attending. Rev. and Mrs. Joe Wagner are serving as instructors. New arrivals at Melrose Lodge include Mrs. Stewart Lamb and Miss Katharine Chisolm, Peters burg. Va. and Miss Louise Boughn, Providence, Rhode Island. Recent arrivals at Oak Hall Hotel included Francis P. Smith, A. G. Vining, Atlanta; T. T.
